VFuel Joins Ultra168 Supporters Club

We’re pretty excited here at Ultra168 about this partnership and brand new addition to the Ultra168 Supporters Club, because quite simply VFuel is the best gel around if you want my humble opinion.

I discovered these beauties about 18 months ago when I noticed a whole bunch of US runners using them. So I got me some gels and tried them out and boom! I was hooked and did a review of them way back in the day before they were cool here. Check it out here.

Ultra168 Supporters will have access to a 12.5% discount on these gels and I’m a big fan of them, hence my desire to get them on board the Supporters Club.

If you’re wondering what the club is all about, then take a look at the information by clicking here. But it’s essentially a members club that gives access to a whole series of discounts on race and gear in the world of trail and ultramarathons here in Australia and New Zealand. We like to work with brands and races that we like and that we think our readers will like, thus the Supporters Club was born.

Why VFuel?

I’m typically someone who’s suffered hugely with stomach issues as far as nutrition on the run is concerned. I can’t have too much of the crappy fructose that they put in quite a few gels – it plays havoc with my guts. So what does VFuel do that others don’t?

VFuel, like other energy gels, starts with maltodextrin as the primary carbohydrate. But from there, they take a very different path. Most other gels use Fructose, or some sort of rice syrup or evaporated cane juice, all containing Fructose. VFuel uses Dextrose as its secondary carb, which is more expensive option, but one that is drastically easier to digest.

Another thing with these is the taste. They not overly sweet, no synthetic blending of flavours is done and importantly, no additives. OK, some may not like them, but for me personally they hit the spot. The chocolate for example uses only organic, non-alkalized, real cocoa powder and a hint of pure, real vanilla. In vanilla only real and pure vanilla is used. In peach cobbler, organic natural peach flavor to get as close to the real flavor as possible, with a dash of ground cinnamon.

I recently used pretty much solely VFuel in my recent GNW100kms run and got through 32 of them along with a bit of water and zero gut issues. These things simply work and I’ve been a massive convert for well over a year and a half now.

If you like the sound of this and you like all of the other offers we’ve managed to secure, then why not think about signing up to the Supporters Club? Click on the big green button below to get on board.

Plus if you’re a ‘VFuel customer’ already (or maybe you’re not!), and you’ve read this far, we’re offering $5 off membership. Just add the code: vfuel168supporter into the discount code section when you sign up.
