Glow Worm Trail Races Join Ultra168 Supporters Club

Those guys at Mountain Sports have been very generous souls to Ultra168. Not only do we have the Hounslow Classic and Buffalo Stampede in the Ultra168 Supporters Club, but they’ve also just handed down a nice 15% discount on three races at the rather spectacular Glow Worm Trail races in beautiful Newes, here in the Blue Mountains. That’s around a $20 saving on standard entry into the marathon.

This year, over 500 people lined up to take on one of the four challenges on offer and the great news is that the 15% discount applies to three of them, the Glow Worm Tunnel Marathon and half-marathon as well as the Ted English Bolt.

The latter race is named in honour of Ted English, who on Wednesday 3rd April 1907, records show that police at Newnes apprehended him while running through the bush stark naked. This is a 6km fun run through the industrial ruins of Newnes honouring Ted and his pioneering trail running spirit.

But it’s not an ultra I hear you cry!

Indeed, it’s not, but it’s also one of the most popular races in NSW and many an ultra runner turns their hand to this rather special event.

We’re very lucky to have these guys on board and it means even more options for Ultra168 Supporters. In fact, at last count we have 21 races covered in our supporters club now.

The race date for next year’s run is the weekend of June 18th and 19th, and entries will open up in January.

That leaves plenty of time to get prepared and the great news is that anyone already signed up is covered for this race too.

I'm a mediocre runner who can bat above his average when I train hard. A man of extremes, I do enjoy everything life offers and consider it an absolute pleasure just to be able to put one foot in front of the other and let my mind wander somewhere different.
