It was a rather busy weekend at Ultra168 HQ, I swear moving house and lugging all of your gear into a truck (five loads) was harder than the 100kms I ran the weekend before… near fear however, some cracking stories for your viewing taste buds today…
- A fighter with Down Syndrome refuses to lose his condition… this video is a little like Marmite (or Vegemite in Australia), you’ll either love it or hate it… personally I love it and say good on the lad…
- It seems to be a taboo subject in ultra-running. A sign of weakness. I say bollocks, you learn a great deal… here’s some insight into the DNF – I think an article is due on this one.
- Here’s a part of Australia that many people don’t get to see, the red centre. Check out this video of some central Australia trail running action.
- 100 miles, up and down one hill, 55 times… mental? Or stupid? Or both?
- Sky Running – European styley…

Dan, it’s not 100-miles it’s 160-miles! I was going to say I don’t see the point but I can now confirm, I definitely don’t see the point! I have always believed that longer is not better. For arguments sake though, lets look at ‘Tor des Geants’. At 330km it is super long but it makes sense as it is a circular route of the Aosta valley. It has a logic to it.
But The Hill Ultra is basically hill repeats for 48-hours… really, why?
Of course, it will appeal to those who want to be the toughest, the hardest, the strongest or whatever it may be? For me though, I want to have some good scenery and I want to enjoy my running. I accept I will have some pain on the way but this is another playing field… so yes, mental and stupid in my opinion 😉
Ahhh Ian, the Antipodean half of my brain saw 160 and thought it was kms, converting it into miles 🙂
