Australia’s finest lines up for Badwater

While all the talk is about Western States in the Ultra168 camp, there’s another major race taking place shortly over in the US, the Badwater Ultra marathon. This race falls into the ‘bloody stupid’ category and is a 216km race that takes place on bitumen, with temperatures reaching over 50 degrees celsius. There’s a few Aussies heading over, including Glen Lockwood and Jo Blake, the Australian Men’s 24 track team Captain.

Jo is a quality runner, and is up there with some of the World’s best when it comes to long distance track and road runs. Ahead of the race, The St George & Sutherland Shire Leader carries an article about Jo, which you can read here.

Who do you think will take the title this year?

I'm a mediocre runner who can bat above his average when I train hard. A man of extremes, I do enjoy everything life offers and consider it an absolute pleasure just to be able to put one foot in front of the other and let my mind wander somewhere different.
