Last weekend saw all four members of Ultra168 compete in the North Face 100km ultra marathon in the wonderful Blue Mountains, 2 hours West of Sydney. Dan was initially going to sit this one out post Northburn, but a last minute decision and a willing partner saw him take to the course in the pairs’ race.
Overall, all team members had a cracking day out, and as suspected, Andrew and his partner Marcus took out the Pairs race by over thirty minutes to set a new course record in a time of 10 hours and 50 minutes. Andrew had a storming first 54kms, knocking them off in 5 hours 23 minutes. His partner Marcus made good use of daylight to bring the team home and another victory for Ultra 168.
That wasn’t the only winning team of the day. Terry, running with his sister (a former Australian Women’s cricket rep) won the mixed pairs in a time of 12 hours and 24 minutes, finishing fifth overall. This was closely followed by Dan and his partner Keith, just 31 seconds behind in a time of 12 hours 25 minutes for sixth place. Had he known, Dan might have put a little more effort into those last few steps up to the Fairmont resort in Leura and the finishing point for the race 🙂
Darrel was the only solo runner this year from the team, and he put in a cracking performance to run a new PB of 12 hours and 58 minutes – knocking 15 minutes off his time from last year. This is a great achievement off the back of his third place in the Northburn 100 miler just eight weeks ago.
The next big race for Ultra168 sees star runner Andrew Vize head over to the US to compete in the Western States 100 mile endurance run. This is regarded as one of the premier 100 mile races in the World, and sees the cream of ultra-running talent pit against each other. Andrew has been training the house down for the last six months and it’s fair to say that this is the biggest race of his life – he will be ready.
Pictures of the North Face 100km will follow shortly, in the meantime, check out the video compiled by Marcus below.

Boys,
Love the website, nice job. I am an ultra novice and am enrolled for TNF100. I am seeking a generalist training program for the event so that my efforts are focussed rather than just doing heaps of miles. Can you direct me to any templates, resources?
Regards
Matt
